Kurilpa Childcare Centre

A small pocket of land was provided to address the needs of an expanding child care centre. The siting is mindful of its context; wedged between an original Brisbane tuff wall and flanked by a paper bark tree grove. Stacked vertically, the Kurilpa extension opens up a new entrance which runs alongside the tuff wall. This pathway is curbed with a dry river bed and encroached with native grasses. A ‘brick on edge’ seating detail entices kids off the path to explore. On the upper staff room level, views across to the paper bark tree tops are sited through the colourful façade screen.
